A Montego Bay taxi operator was shot and killed and another man shot and injured in the historic Sam Square, Montego Bay during a predawn gun attack Monday morning.
The deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Obrien O’Connor of a Flanker, St James address.
Reports are that about 1:30 this morning O’Connor was awaiting passengers in Sam Sharpe when he was pounced upon by two gunmen who opened fire hitting him.
The cabbie and a bystander who was hit by stray bullets, were taken to hospital, where O’Connor was pronounced dead. The other man was admitted, but his condition is not immediately known.
No motive has been ascertained for the shooting which comes on the heels of another gun attack in Sam Sharpe Square on December 30 when two alleged members of the Buss Head gang, operating out of Rose Heights were shot and killed.
