KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica Scorpions left-hand opener John Campbell belted an unbeaten century before lunch on Friday to keep the hosts in charge of the sixth-round regional four-day match against Trinidad and Tobago Red Force at Sabina Park.
The Scorpions raced to 175-2 at the lunch break in reply to the Red Force’s 243 made on Thursday’s opening day.
Scores: Red Force 243 (82.5 ovs); Scorpions 175-2 (34 ovs) Campbell is on 109, while number four batsman Brandon King is on 52. Red Force bowler Daniel St Clair has taken 2-28. The Scorpions resumed from their overnight score of 16 without loss with Campbell on 14 and his opening partner Trevon Griffith on two. But they lost Griffith (four) and Assad Fudadin (nought) early.
Campbell, who reached three figures with an emphatic hit for six off the 97th ball he faced, and King shared in an unbroken third-wicket stand of 139 runs to steady the ship.
